We opened in March 2001 in Brookfield, and after several successful years there, moved to our 6-bay, 4,000-square-foot shop in Elmhurst in 2009. In July of 2020, we now have opened a second location in Clarendon Hills!
Our education and hands on experience is one of our big advantages, and one of the reasons the business has grown so much. It helps me and my employees not only know how to repair cars but also gives us the ability to understand how things work. When you understand how things work, you have a lot more power and a much better chance of being able to figure out what’s wrong.

Mike Larson
Owner & Founder
Mike has been in the automotive industry since 1982, and he opened My Mechanic in 2001 and his second shop in Clarendon Hills in 2020. He stays up to date on his technical skills by attending advanced training classes regularly. He is a member of ASA (Automotive Service Association) and MWACA (Midwest Auto Care Association) and continues to receive technical and business training on a regular basis. Mike holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology from Triton College in River Grove, IL.
In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends and enjoys a good game of golf. Fishing in Florida also ranks high on his list.

Meet Wendy, our office manager who joined the My Mechanic team in October of 2021. Wendy’s #1 piece of advice for preventive maintenance is to have your oil changed regularly and on time. And her favorite part of her job is the positive team of professionals she works alongside. If money were no object, Wendy would own a Jaguar I-Place.

Meet Kevin! A Service Advisor who joined the My Mechanic Team at the Elmhurst location in the Summer of ‘21. His favorite part of his job is the strong satisfaction from all the customers of My Mechanic. Kevin’s #1 piece of preventive maintenance is to have quarterly vehicle Inspections done for your vehicle. Getting regular inspections helps you know the condition of your vehicle and helps you budget for future repairs. If money was no object, Kevin would own a Porsche Panamera. His favorite part of working on cars is when customers who are responsive to recommendations and suggested repairs.

Meet Nick! A service provider who is a part of the Clarendon Hills My Mechanic location! Nick’s #1 piece of preventive maintenance for a car owner is to have your shocks and struts checked out regularly. His favorite part of his job are customers that bring in vintage or rare vehicles because it differentiates from the other cars he gets to see more regularly! If money was no object, Nick would love to own a Pagani Huayra.
Alex Leon
Automotive Technician
"Applying at My Mechanic was one of the best career choices I have made!” says Alex, who joined My Mechanic in 2015 with nearly 10 years in the automotive industry. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology from Lincoln Technical Institute in Melrose Park, IL. In his free time, he likes to practice his drawing and painting skills, as well as spend time with his family and friends.

Mike Schank

Meet Mike S! A team member who joined the My Mechanic Clarendon Hills Family since its opening, Mike is ASE-certified in Engine Repair, and Steering & Suspension. Mike’s #1 piece of preventive maintenance for a car owner is a reminder that car fluids wear out too! Always flushing your car fluids and replacing them with new fluid will keep your car healthy running for a long time! His favorite part to work on cars is the engine. Mike appreciates when customers realize how hard it is to be a vehicle technician, technicians work on virtually everything for all car models, and that is a lot of knowledge to remember! If money was no object, Mike would build a Supercharged 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454. His favorite part of his job is knowing that he solved a problem and fixed a customer's vehicle.
Sreten (Steve) Vuletic

Steve began working with the My Mechanic team in 2023, but he hopes to put many more years under his belt. He has recently completed his ASE certification for A1 Engine Repair.
